      Olathe’s Got Talent 2020 Audition Deadline is February 10
      A showcase for talented youth

      Olathe’s Got Talent, an event which showcases Olathe students and their various talents, is now accepting applications for participants for the April 19 show which will mark its 10th anniversary of providing a community venue for talented youth to compete for scholarships in the performance arts as well as raising funds to support school and community projects for Olathe youth. Over the past nine years, $62.975 have been distributed in scholarships and awards by Olathe’s Got Talent, and additional proceeds from this program have provided supplemental funds to theater arts programs in the Olathe Public Schools making it a leader in Kansas Arts funding. More than $7,500 in scholarships may be awarded this year.

      Students ages 7 to 19 who reside within the Olathe Public School District and who attend public, private or homeschools are eligible to apply individually or as a group in the performance category such as vocal, instrumental, theatre, dance, gymnastic acts or other forms of entertainment. Additional categories of competition include visual arts and video which are both restricted to juniors and seniors attending one of the five Olathe School District high schools.

      The deadline to apply in the performance category is Monday, February 10. Performance auditions will be held Sunday, March 7 from 1-5 pm and Monday, March 9 from 6-9 pm at the Olathe Community Center, 1205 E. Kansas City Rd, Olathe, KS. Visual artists and video entrants need to apply by March 9.       The Olathe’s Got Talent matinee will be comprised of 18 performance art finalist acts. Audience members will be able to cast a vote or votes for their favorite performers. Judges will evaluate the stage performances, and scholarships will be awarded in various categories. Visual artists and video directors and their works will featured during the show.

      Directed by Jay Coombes, Olathe’s Got Talent is organized by Olathe Noon Optimists and the Bell Cultural Events Center at MidAmerica Nazarene University in Olathe which will host the performance from 3:00 to 5:30 pm. Tickets will be $10; children 5 and under are free.
